Solange Knowles

Since Spring of this year, Solange Knowles has been quite the topic banter for the blogs & Trending Topic compatible for Twitter. From her nonchalant ranting Tweets, bold fashion statements on and off the stage, and, of course, her recent tress chop, whether negative or positive, Solange definitely knows how to grab our attention without trying—or caring.

Many in the past have accused Ms. Knowles of being an attention whore, trying too hard, a horrible dresser, has been questioned why designers love her, why Armani would ever give her the honor of Armani Ambassador—and even called her "crazy."

But in recent days there’s been a complete 180 in Solange critiques from the masses. I’ve noticed a sudden gravitation, so to speak, since Solange made a cameo on Oprah for the "Good Hair" discussion with Chris Rock, and her most recent photoshoot with Honey magazine. Many anti-Solange bus riders started hoping on the bandwagon with the sudden epiphany of how beautiful, smart and stylish she is becoming … What?

Here’s a clip from Solange’s interview on The Oprah Show. Pay attention to Chris Rock when this stunning beauty hits the stage—CLASSIC lol.

Yes, the majority of the same bloggers and tweeties that dogged her for her hair and fashion choices all these years are now her biggest fans. The way everyone "loves to love them some Solo" you would think she got a brand new album or song that just came out.

My question is, why the sudden fascination? Did the oh-so taboo haircut finally grow on you? Did Fashion Week 2009 finally make you realize how stylish and ahead of the game she is? Or does Oprah and Chris Rock have the almighty stamp of approval for you to like someone?

NEWS FLASH: Solange has ALWAYS been the fashionista she is now. Edgy, in your face and avant garde both in style and culture. This is why I salute this risk taker!

I love when someone’s personal sense of style speaks in such high volumes that you dont need for them to ever utter a word. That is what Solange brings to the table (and MORE) and that is exactly what ART is. So I guess I’m glad everyone is seeing what true fashion lovers have been seeing all along.

Here is Solo’s interview/photoshoot with Honey Magazine: Enlightntening and intelligent, but we wouldn’t expect anything less. :)

I was definitely inspired by Solange’s appearance on the Oprah Show. I think she is a BEAUTIFUL person inside and out…short hair or long. :-D
Her CD Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams is in constant rotation in my car!!

She is an amazingly beautiful woman—and it took occurred to me once she cut her hair. As I told Tamika, I respected her fashion style, it was on point, but just how Chris Rock said, Solange was a good looking woman, but in a normal, typical way. Glad she is happy with herself—it shows tremendously in her radiance.

Keep up the good articles, Tamika!

Wow she spending someones salary on her hair alone that is crazy and a perm at 4 that is ludicrous.

It seems to have been a very conscious decision on her part to “free” herself from the crazy regime of maintaining her hair. I think she looks great and she’s working it well! Great article Mika :D
