We all know Marilyn Monroe as one of the most iconic personalities in American pop culture. But there was another blonde bombshell that personified “sex” and proudly wore the title- literally. Actress Jayne Mansfield used sex appeal as her claim to fame. And being that her nickname was “40-21-32″ (her measurements), Mansfield made sure her God-given pin up assets kept her at the top.

Jayne loved using the public eye as her opportunity to shock, awe and steal the spotlight, and the main attraction was always her beautiful, innocent face and hourglass figure.

Mansfield’s sense of style was undeniable with no regrets or apologies.

Sexting 101 With Rihanna [NSFW]

So last week, as per usual, I checked out one of my favorite guilty pleasures, mediatakeout.com. (Judge not, for I am human.) They posted a new leak of a sexting photo Rihanna allegedly sent to a “baller” she was having relations with shortly after Chrihanna Gate.

I must say, Ri Ri’s Blackberry sexting photos are quite editorial. From the great lighting, immaculate hair and makeup, and classy (not skanky) centerfold poses, those pics were definitely a turn on and Im a straight female!

Now I’ve seen some sexting pics that have been circulated via twitpic starring some unfortunate no-so-famous young ladies that are just … -_- . *cue Exhibit A*

If you’re going to risk your integrity, let’s doing while looking good ladies. Although they are sweet in the beginning, most of these men aint sh*t and will show your pics to the homies if you two break up. Let’s take notes from Rihanna. Her sexting pictures always seemed to get leaked but DAMN she never looks bad in them.

Lesson 1: Less Is More

This rule is old as hell but definitely fact. Going buckey naked isn’t always necessary and leaving a little to the imagination never hurts (but showing dinner rolls, bullet wounds and c-section scars does). #REALTEARS

Yes, I know I sound like I’m ODing right now but think of it this way: At the end of the day, you have to have in the back of your mind that there IS a 60% chance that your pic might fall into the wrong hands and be viewed on twitter. Lesson 3: Be Aware Of Your Surroundings.

Yes, you are the main focus of the picture but where the picture is taken definitely sets a tone. CHOOSE WISELY! smh.

Self explanatory. We all weren’t blessed with the photogenic gene and thats OKAY. If he asks for a sext pic its fine to decline. If he’s immature enough to chuck you the deuces because you didn’t send one, chances are he was going to show all his friends. You dodged a bullet.

Since hearing about the passing of one of my style icons, I’ve been racking my brain on trying to find the most immaculate collection of words to say to represent who she was and what an influence she has on me. Then I stumbled upon a July 2009 article from Vanity Fair that embodied EXACT who Lena was.

A perfectionist. The word SETTLE was never in her vocabulary. Never afraid to tell you want she wants and all the while remaining a class act with beauty and grace for days.

Lena Horne became a star with her performance in the 1943 film Stormy Weather, one of the few Hollywood musicals of that era to feature mostly African-American performers. But because of her race, the Brooklyn-born singer and actress was never considered for the dramatic roles she craved. Instead, she was usually featured in single numbers, wearing elegant gowns, often standing in front of a pillar. In the mid-1950s, approaching 40 but still beautiful and sultry, a frustrated Horne left Hollywood to focus on singing—a move that would transform her into one of the most successful and beloved performers of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
